I really don't understand drilling a bunch of holes all over the airbox when you only need to open up one end. So, that's what I did. It really opened up the breathing, let me keep the stock filter, and was pretty cheap to do! =)

Actually, it was surgically altered. At least I didn't just drill a bunch of holes in it!

It works quite well, is somewhat stealth, and uses the oem filter.

No. I will stick with the paper filter for now. I have a K&N and never realized any performance improvement over the paper, and the risk to damaging the MAF isn't worth it to me.

Don't bother with a K&N drop in... you'll see very little if any difference at all.
get a cone or mushroomfilter, don't over-oil it (wont need to if it's a mushroom, and enjoy an actual improvement. destroying the stock airbox won't really get you all that much really.

You can get an oversized cone filter and cut your intake restriction in half

Here's links to good filters that will make a difference:

Mushroom Style<--- its for the Audi A4, but its the same engine and I have it installed. If you ask them if it fits... they'll say no because it doesnt say "TT" on the box. dont worry... it fits.

Cone Style<--- they also have a section with different colors if you wanna make it match your engine trim.
