Default K03 to K04

Has anyone upgraded from a K03 to a K04? If so what was your whp gain and what mods did you have already? Did you just take the old off and put the new on?

I have a 2002 TT FWD 180 hp with the following mods: GIAC reprogramed hip, full 2.5 exhaust, CAI, diverter. I have been told I run about 210 whp. Sound right to you guys? What I have feels pretty good but I still want a little more without changing new parts and heard the K04 is a direct bolt on without having to change anything. My GIAC chip might do ok with it too. I was jsut wondering if anyone has gone from the K03 to the K04 and how they liked it. Thanks.

u can slap on a K04 wit the existing manifold and everything, but u should get the rite programing for it though
but i say if ur gonna change out the turbo i say go better casue if u just get a K04 it would be like the TT 225 chipped and all those mods would seem pointless

Is there another turbo I can just slap on and only have to do the chip? One that uses GIAC? Thanks.

From my research efforts Ive found only a custom turbo application will be able to fit without a new intake manifold, downpipe, fittings, etc.

Id go with a k04 its a direct bolt on just reprogram your GIAC and your ready to go

Look in to the Eurospec E05 turbo, it has a more aggressive turbine and it can make boost to 6500 RPM but you will need to re-tune your ECU to use it.

Thanks guys, sounds good. I wouldnt mind changing manifolds to get a better flow if it isnt too expensive and will allow me to put a good turbo on. The chip looks like a must no matter. If I cant get a new turbo then I was thinking of putting a new manifold and inlet pipe for better flow and see if I get a few more ponies that way. And maybe new fly wheels might get me a few. What do you all think?

Well a lighter flywheel will deliver hp to the ground faster but will require a new clutch also which can get expensive especially if your going with a larger turbo setup. Fidanza makes an excelent flywheel

and for the bigger turbo a Garrett GT28R is an excelent choice.

p.s. dont forget brakes
