Default KO4 upgrade/compression rate

I have my 225tt..i just heard someone with a 180 say that if he just slaps a ko4 on with all the necessary other minor stuff, that he'll have MORE than 225hp because of the compression rate on the 180 which is 9:5:1 compared to 225 which is 8:8:1. I think this is madness..is he right?

Yes, the 180 with 9.5:1 will have a small amount more power throught due to the increase in compression.

225 is 9:1.

**Edit, its was probablyme that said it, but that was a long time ago

So in reality if my KO3s goes and I dont have the $$ for a BT upgrade.. I should get a bolt on KO4 rather than another KO3s?

it would most likely be less than 20hp. But the 1.8T VW's make a good amount of power more w/ the ko4-20 than whati have seen the 225's dyno even with the extra powerloss

Ryan, you still need the 225 manifold and some parts from pro-imports to make it work.

to do the proper "225 k04" upgrade you need a decent amount of things

k04-020 turbo
225 exhaust manifold
225 injectors
dual smic or fmic (not sure if the single smic would be enough for the k04)
re-map
i'm sure there might be more, this is just what I have gathered in picking up info here and there

who has actually seen a tt that has done the "225 k04" upgrade?
