Default Limp Mode - Turbo Intake Hose Cracked

Which is what dealer said when I took it in for them to look at the gauge problem they fixed before.

The CEL came on on the way over.

Gas gauge problem = FSU bad (again, replaced over 2 years ago ) Mega $$$

Hose to recirculating intake valve on turbo?
Don't have book in front of me and this is new to me.
$135 for part, double it for service.

As if getting stuck in driveway today wasn't bad enough.

Anybody have a link to this pic? It looks like the ones on FAQ 1.8 that linked to vwvortex are dead.

Looking for service options.

your going to need to seal that crack, or replce the hose. It would help if you had pics.

think he's asking for pics, and it sounds very much like he's talking about the 'TIP' as everyone calls it.

Hose that fits onto the inlet of the turbo, also has spot molded into it to fit the diverter valve (aka recirculating valve)???

Sorry, I was going on what the dealer said and didn't have a pic. Maybe I should have asked them for one ha!

Well I decline the service (based on previous nefarious dealings with them) to get a second opinion.

As I drive away (they tell me it is in limp mode) the CEL is off and it is peforming fine.

2nd opinion import car shop: Says they see nothing except the slightest crack in a hose that should not be causing problem. Recommends no service at this time.

My thougts: I left out the preamble to this CEL event. It all started in my driveway that morning when I almost got stuck in the snow and reving it excessively to get it unstuck. I think maybe doing all that on a cold engine could have confused the MAF and thrown the CEL.

It has been fine since then with no problems.
+ I believe I have a mech I can trust.
Bye bye beautiful dealership.

Help! I am having a problem with my Audi A4 and I think it might be related to limp mode. I purchased a pre-owned 2006 Audi A4 1.8T Cabriolet last month and it has about 27,000 miles on it. So far, I have had nothing but problems with this thing. Unbelievable.

Anyway, the latest is happening with the gear shift. All of a sudden, my car won't go into Sports mode. It feels like something is stuck in the gear shift preventing it to move, but I highly doubt anything got in there. Also, on the dash board, the entire gear indicator light behind the P-N-R-D-S (or whatever the letters are, haha) is on. It doesn't change when I shift gears like it used to.

My car seems to drive fine, but when I turn it on, I can hear weird clicking for a minute like it's trying to do something.

I have read some things and I'm thinking it could possibly be limp mode, though I'm not sure why it would be in that mode...?? The only thing I can think of is that the rear brakes were recently changed and new brake fluid was added. I called Audi and they said the car just had an oil change.

Can anyone please help?? Thanks!

Lindsey
