Looking to buy into the TT family, need to know possible problems
Thank you to everyone that will respond to this message.
I am looking into buying a TT in the next year or so. I currently own a 99 Dodge Intrepid which I love. I will be leaving my university in Aug. and most likely going into the Air Force. I guess my question is are there any major problems that seem to come up? I don't mean sensors, but more along the lines of major defects. My Intrepid is on its second motor due to it seizing up when the oil mixed in with the engine coolant. This was a major design defect which is making my decision to buy a foreign vehicle a major possiblilty.
And help would be useful!

Honestly, mate - you can't go wrong with a TT - But stepping up from an Intrepid - you are going to lose a great deal of space that you've grown accustom to... [:-]
Read through the forum topics, I've learned a great deal about the TT's pitfalls, but I can probably speak for most, you'll love the car even if it catches fire on you... lol

Aint that the truth. We will Love Em no matter what. Once you drive it you'll fall in love with it.

I am about 6'4" and 250lbs. Is this even a practical car for my size? I worked for a Dodge/Chrysler dealer and loved driving the owners Viper. Not practical for a college grad but I also loved the Crossfire. It fit me very well, except the back window was hard to see out of. I love the look of the TT, nothing like it on the road IMO.

I am 6'2 225. Tons of room no problem for me. You will love it. I suggest you go and test drive a used one and get the feel for it. I work in a POrsche Store and it has much more room then the 911 and the new Cayman S or the Boxster.

I'm 6 ft - 230 lbs and very broad sholdered - the TT fits me well. If you can fit into a Crossfire then the TT will suit you. I test drove one of those and can say this - I personally liked the TT's interior more. Also the backseat on the coupe is for storage and there is no backseat on the roadster
One point of interest - if you are serious about the TT's performance - get the 225hp/6sp 1.8 Turbo. Mine was acquired through a lien sale off a police impound, so I had little choice, it's the 180hp/5sp and very quick - but still opt for the faster one if you can. Everyone here will probably second that... lol

Well, I asked because you'd get more leg-room out of a roadster. I'm only 5'10 and have plenty of room, but I sit with a 90 degree bend in my arms when I drive.
Oil changes will shock you at first, but remember it's every 5,000 miles. I'd suggest buying a Chilton's repair manual if you do decide to buy one.
I love mine to death and at this point in time wouldn't really trade it in on anything, but that might change when the new TT comes out
