Cincy you nailed it, I flipped the DV and I hold 16 PSI. it is actually deformed on one side. thanks for the daignostic , No honking noise though, not even a hint. Took all of 5 minutes. Where is the best (cheapest ) place to get the splitter you have, I assume you are still happy with it and that is what you would replace it with right? what is the actual name and model of it again. You Rule.

You can go with any valve you wish:
forge - 004, 007, splitter
apr - r1
bailys
evoms
stratmosphere
turboXS
hks ssqv
samco sport

comes down to what your looking for. If you want a new dv, the 007 (piston) and apr R1 (diaphram) are the way to go and if you want some noise, the splitter ortons of noise004 or hks

Well I would actually like some more noise, also I dont know what direction to go,,,,I have been keeping track of the FMIC thread the one from tunerstop, I think that might be my next upgrade,What do you think?? this all is headed towards a larger Turbo upgrade. I know you have done a ton of research, what is the best bang for the buck turbo options? and would this fmic and what ever splitter, work later also? I'm close to pulling the trigger on the first batch of goodys, I know I can not replace the turbo with the current IC and I dont have the budget for both right now, but as I replace things I want to works towards the ending goal without buying things twice. So With budget in mind and everyday driveability. whats your opinion on the list of things I need? I think we are like minded in the fact that there are good options away from the norm, However you know tons more than me. What would you get? Building on a budget.
1. Header (brand)
2. Turbo?
3. DP
4. Exhaust
5. Intake
6. IC
7. DV
8. Programing

well you NEED a dv so that is a must. As for your next upgrade, a full exhaust would give you the most gain over all. But a ic will give you consistant power throughout since you will no longer be heat soaking the ic constantly.

But since you dont want to buy things twice (i like that thinking), a full exhaust would be a waste since you would toss it if you went BT. Then a cat-back alone will give good gains, but more with the dp.

so for the time being an intercooler or even water/meth injection both would be a nice upgrade for the time being. Look into both snow performance stage 2 and devils own stage 2 kits. This will give you the same cooling effects as a intercooler upgrade aswell as the effects of running race gas (among other +'s). Those would be my choices as a next step.

Educate me on the water meth thing I havre only read one thing on it., and so you would keep the Dv you have correct. it is the forge "splitter" on ecs part #8287 correct ? it just never calls it 004?

That is the splitter, the 004 is the bov on top of the page in silver, black, red, and blue.

thread comparing the 2 kits

but in short, they lower iat (intake air temps) below abient, reduces knock (knock will pull timing = lower hp), clean the cylinders, act like race gas (allows for more timing and/or boost) and can be used in a single or dual nozzle set up for differnt gains and can use either strait distilled water, dist water and HEAT (which is meth available at part stores) or even some ww fluids.

Well I talked to Scott and got the stage 2 kit and 2 nozel adapter plate. amd I ordered the forge splitter. Scott didnt like the fact we dont have programing? I told him i was working towards a different turbo set up and he was OK with that. but still was iffy. So I need to get that turbo and manifold ,exhaust etc. and get a programing secession done at some point. I'm really close to just saying what the hell and doing it.

scott may be worried about timing and fuel, a 4bar if you dont have one may ba a good idea also. Just remeber that it may cost you more than expected if you go BT than just the strait cost for the kit. Things like clutches and things go fast and will need to be replaced/upgraded. So dont put yourself in any sort so situation where you have no money and need parts/labor done

Actuall the more I think about the conversation.... His first comment was dont get the meth kit from me, get some programing.. Seriously. Then I explained I was working towards a larger goal. It took some convincing. He actually made a statement about how since we clamp the voltage the ECU doesnt properly adjust the timming he was most concerned about that. saying the knock sensor was the only thing saving the engine at this point. But I was under the impression the MAF is what made up for our boost situation since it see the actual Mass Air Flow going by. later in the conversation I again assured him I was keeping track of things by stating that I had replaced the plugs first thing then checked their conditiion several times, stating they were a light brown just as they should be,,,, Again he Expresssed great concern saying with todays gas the plug color had not alot to do with the engines health ..Detonation running rich or lean. .. Honestly I dont know how to take this. in my personal opinion This has and will give you a good indication of what is going on in the combustion chamber. But he races these things and has way more expertise on these engines than i have. But maybe he is thinking in race terms. pedal to the floor redling most of the time. I get on my car here and there but not holding at redline.Then he did mention using a vagcom to log the timing and run more meth when it starts to retard. again after the conversation it hit me he is propably talking about runnung it very hard most of the time. which I dont. I have never heard any pinging or anything even under hard acceleration and high boost. I know what pinging sounds like, I had many of Small block chevys that I played witth timing including one with a blower on it. Again I dont doubt his expertise. I do think he is thinking in race terms more than me though. Also I do have a 4 bar, but I need to take the 5 minutes to put it on. What do you guys think about using the plugs as a indication of things going on in the combustion chamber? Who knows where this car will end up as far as upgrades in the end, do you ever really know? I may put this on and be totally happy for months, or?? Well I look forward to the comments. The kit should be in wed or thursday Im going to play with it and go from there.
