Default Maf sensor information for ugrading 180hp ttq or fwd.

i wanted to post some updates on the MAF sensors for all of you thinking of upgrading the 180hp tt. since i did the k04-01 upgrade i had to find a sensor to work with it. you can run a basic k03 softwre and then tune it with the likes of Lemmiwinks from revo or other similar programs. there are many writeups for the golf 1.8t how to do that. if you ugrade the software to k04 then you will have to upgrade the sensor most likely. I had giac k03 so i upgraded with giac k04 software. they require the tt225 maf. the sensor part numbers from audi are 06A 906 461EX. that is the sensor that will work. the VR6 has the same housing, but the sensor will not work properly dont even bother as it will be a waste of money. i had to pull out 30% from the fuel to keep it from flooding, and the idle was terrible. with the stock sensor in the bigger housing the idle got beter, but still bad, and i only had to take out 20% fuel from the powerband. the tt225 sensor works flawlessly. i swapped it in today and reset it to full fuel and it runs like stock. The sensor is hard to find cheap but the dealer had it for 166 and i was able to get it for 120 (they like me there....and i have a wholesale account) the other problem will come when mounting the sensor. you will nontice the housing does not come even close to fitting in the stock or aftermarket smaco hoses. you could probably stretch the stock hose but not the samco TIP. the solution was to take the housing and cut a can of tire shine spray that kragen sells to fit inside of the housing. the beauty of it was that the cut up can fit perfectly inside the housing with no transition problems, meaning that i was smooth through the whole ting, and it slid perfectly in the aftermarket TIP. after that i pulled it out, coated the end of the cut up can with a good resin expoy and slid it into the 2.75" housing. then i applied more resin along the outside seam between the can and the housing.make sure it dries up really good. its been holding up that way for a few weeks now and its not going to come appart. i painted it black to look better and also sanded down the expoy on the inside to smooth it all out. overall i can say there is no drag caused by poor transitions and or turbulence. i alos found an airhorn that is 3" diameter and aligns perfectly with the outer diameter of the housing which is 3". i'll take pics soon of the semi finalized setup. good luck to anyone trying to upgrade to a not so big turbo. i like it and definitely feels stronger than the k03. it did even before the chip. giac boosts the turbo to 1.2-1.3 bar on their k04 software. i will do the boostachine and take it up to 1.5 bar.
