Default Mk2 Alarm Question

Anybody know if there is a trick to setting the alarm in the 2008 TT? I've followed the instructions in the manual (p. 56) but have yet to see the blinking indicator light showing that it is armed when I lock the vehicle with the remote.

Do it with the window down and then reach in the car. If it's set, the alarm will go off. Assuming it has motion detectors like the MK1

Issue resolved -- well, sort of. Stopped past my dealer the other day and they showed me that if you get up real close to the car and shield the sun with your hand you can see the faint blinking of the indicator light. Kind of odd because it's not like it's visible enough to deter anyone. I didn't even notice it at night. I wonder if there is a way to adjust the intensity of the light?

I'm loving driving the car, TTsteve. I almost can't wait to get in and go somewhere. The wife and I carpool and use the Prius for most of our daily driving with the kids, etc. So the TT has been just about trips alone for me for the most part. As far as the ride is concerned, the car really hugs the road. Yeah, you feel every nook and cranny with the runflats, but it's a price worth paying to be able to hit a turn at 50 mph and feel like you're on tracks (particularly if you have Magnetic Ride engaged.) The other thing you notice about the ride is how agile the car is when accelerating, probably due to the liberal use of aluminum and othe lightweight materials. The three things I like most about the car in addition to the handling are 1) seeing the spoiler rise automatically when I hit 75 mph on the freeway, 2) the red glow of the instrument panel and indicator lights throughout the cockpit at night (I feel like I'm piloting a plane, lol), and 3) the Audi MMI with MP3 player, Navi, hands-free phone, satellite radio, etc (very easy to use). All in all, I'm very happy with my choice. I sacrificed a little power/speed by not going with the BMW 335i coupe I was considering. But I really appreciate the entire package offered by the TT. The fact that there won't be that many on the road helped seal the deal too. (Note: I also expect to do really well with gas mileage. I'll report back after I expend my first full tank.)

dhunt that sounds great cant wait to get mine and drive her. I hope the ride will be a little smoother with regular tires on but the little I did drive the demo I loved. I just want to get mine in and really drive her to see how it feels. So did you have a TT befroe this one? And has anyone tried to test you yet? If you do the chip and exhaust I would think you should be close to the power of the BMW.? Im guessing since the car does 0 - 60 in about 6.1 that with the chip and exhaust it should do about 5.5 or so. Not sure though they say an extra 45 - 50 HP with those mods so Im really not sure how much that extra HP will drop our 0 - 60 times. But I know it will feel good. Let me know if you hear of any mods for our car, I know we can do the chip already but Im still looking for a place that has an exhuast for the new TT and has tried it already.

My first car back in the 1980s was an old Audi Fox. This is the first Audi I've owned since then. I drove an Infiniti FX most recently and really enjoyed driving it. I got rid of it because I didn't really need all of the space for just myself and wanted to save on gas consumption (14.9 mpg, yikes!).
