modding on warranty clarification...
Hey, I'm trying to do some research on a chip upgrade (REVO) for a friends B7 A4... he has the 50,000 mile warranty on his CPO'ed A4 and is worried about the chip "voiding" anything...
I looked in the A4 FAQ sticky but it only gives information on what chip should you do/ what else do you do after chip etc etc... unless I seriously overlooked it, I did not see anything related to warranty info...
can someone give me some quick advice on this because I scheduled him for the chip upgrade tomorrow... (im posting this in the TT section because I never visit the A4 threads..)

i did some research on audizine using the search and i think i found the answer and that would be, chip will void warranty and there is no real way to "hide" a chip/flashing from a dealer...
i guess my friend will be running stock :/

I have a CPOed car still under warranty. I'm chipped through APR, and have the lock out mode for the chip. I just put the ECU back to stock settings when I give it to the dealer. The bottom line is it's up to the dealer as far as warranty. If the service dept is cool, they aren't gonna give a ****. At least champion Audi where I go is cool about it. I think it matters if your car is a beater also. If you tastefully mod your car, and you talk to a few different service depts in your area. I fortunately have the largest Porsche/Audi dealership in the world as my service dept(although I think they are going ch.11). My car has 61k on it, and my warranty is good till aug of next year

Sad to hear they are CH11.
Its a 40 min drive N for me, but well worth it (Prestige Audi...my local = *****)
did you extend your warranty? how is it up to 60k+ ?
Yeah, I got mine from prestige audi/lambo in miami. Those guys were the worst I've ever dealt with. Certified pre owened(cpo) gives you an extra 2 years of warranty from audi. Prestige couldn't have EVER done a CPO certification on the car. It had obviously been pencil whipped through it's inspection. Along with 4 bald tires and a MAJOR need of an alignment. The first year I've had it, I've brought it in for almost $8,000 worth of warranty work. Let's just say, my entire front end has been replaced(subframe and all). Champion is the best service dept I've ever dealt with.
Hasn't anyone heard of the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act of 1975? How is it this question always comes up and no one knows this piece of legislation exists?
