did the tip seem pointless too? i am getting my ecu back end of this week from GIAC and see that several people go for tip after the chip. the car is never going to be street raced, tracked etc, how needed is this? should I just wawit and see if my oem is actually giving me trouble b4 getting another?
It is needed on a 225 since they have a soft hose that collapses with higher boost. The 180's have a cast peice that prevents that. But for the 180, the tip is a little less restrictive, some timy gains will be noticed.

DURTTY, YOU SHOULD MENTION YOUR A 180QC

If you insert it in the right spots and run it for a very short time, youll be fine. There are tons of vw and audi 1.8ts that have run it w/o problems.

i just want to do an engine flush and run through the old filter, then drain, replace filter refill new oil.

want to see if i can clean the cr@p out from 7 years of buildup.

although when i look in the crank case it looks really clean no gun k buildup, but ... you never know. ]

Also Cincy, the TIP did make a big difference for me. when i was doing 1/4 miles the hose was collapsing or on the highway at higher rpms, it was collapsing, maybe not at the metal tip part but still.

also the 2-3cm width of the metal pipe is a joke, why they bothered to cast such a useless peice is beyond me.
