Positive, turnthekey to the on position until the TB has reset.After the tb has reset you should start the car. Do you still have the owner's manuals? It goes over the simple process of replacing the battery and resetting your stereo in the there.

 

well I now know that the guys at my local audi dealership are lying ********. i wonder if they make commsiion on how much service they do? Good news is: i replaced it myself for about 50 bucks and once it reset( didnt even need the radio unlock codes) it runs great. it runs so great. im not sure if it ever ran this well. my check engine light even went off. so thanks for all your help. if you guys hadnt callmed me down an convinced me that i could do it, i would have spent 240 at the stealership. so thanks, i dont know what i would do without this forums and everyone here.

lots of shops are like that, tell you have problems with things that are fine and/or not related. Like you have a coolent leak and you need to replace your gas tank...HUH? They know plenty of people dont knowanything about cars and thats why they are there. Bad shops will do as much as possible to suck out as much money as possible from you. They hope you dont understand and are just happy it being fixed and bring it back to get raped again.

 

yeah im never goin there again. but i am gonna try to do more stuff on my own. also would it be bad to tak emy car to like a jiffy lube to get the oil changed?

 

i personally dont know if they put in the correct oil (5w40 full syn) and just dont trust what i dont do. Plus you can do it and change you spark plugs for far cheaper than taking it there.

 

um . well i have a new problem. i put the new battery in and all but its still dying and sometimes wont start without a jump. so is it my alternator? i'm not sure. im gonna take my car up to an autozone or somethin and have it tested. (sigh......) guess i'm not done fixing it yet.

 

Definietly have the system checked out. COuld be a short somewhere, or likely the alternator. Good luck with ti, they should be able to let you know quickly.
