just as a side note,I did this conversion of the mister using the headlight washer pump and the problem is that the pump is acctually a propeller in the tank and unce you start driving the water will push through the tubing and siphon itself out of the tank. you need some sort of check valve in there to stop it from doing that. the pump has a lot of pressure since it pushed the aliens open so a low pressure check valve wil work. for me it started leaking as soon as i stepped on the breaks and didnt stop till the tank was empty.

yeh and this is what I didn't consider at first so I had to go all over town to find a valve that would work, I finally found a 1/2 inch pvc check valve that did the job.

ok here we go... DIY IC mister using the factory washer tank and alien sprayer pump.

I have prices for everything except the check valve, this is something that you might be better off ordering online somewhere as it was very hard to find a small enough one at the store, I used a 1/2" pvc check valve found at ACE hardware, this is the valve I got maybe you can find a smaller onebut this will do, make sure it is a spring valve and you have the right fittings to connect it to your 3/8" hose http://www.thatpetplace.com/pet/prod/199337/product.web

now for the other parts, found at Lowes hardware

1- 5ft section of 1/2" pvc pipe- $1.47
1- 3/8" nylon barb tee- $1.57
2- 3/8"x1/4" MIP90degree nylon barb fitting $2.64
4- 1/2" pvc endcaps $.92
1- pack of pvc primer and glue $5.58
1- pack of 90degree mister jet sprinkler nozzles $6.07
1- 6ft section of 3/8" braided nylon tubing $3.60
various assortment of drill bits $?

you also need from advance auto or somewhere else
1- switch, toggle or push(whichever you prefer) $6.96
1- section of 16 gauge wire, lenght depends on where you want your switch $4.88

*switch with wire and check valve w/ fittings not pictured*

now putting your setup together... when taking your bumper off, you see that the clear nylon tubing of the alien sprayers is connected to a rubber tube that runs to the pump, this is where you disconnect it via the push quick disconnect or pin disconnect(depending on model year). have a bucket handy to catch the washer fluid that will drain out ot the tank.

with that off you can go ahead and install your FMIC if you haven't already done so, the first step in building the mister setup it to cut your pvc pipe to the length you want depending on where you want your sprayer nozzles. Next you take a small drill bit, slightly smaller than the screw in piece of the spray nozzle, line it up and drill the holes where you want the nozzles to be in your pvc pipe( this is completly your choice as to where and how many nozzles you want in the pipe, I used 3 myself but 4 might get a little better coverage on the IC) go ahead and screw those in, make sure they fit tight and use a little pvc glue.

Now take 2 of the 4 endcaps and drill the hole where you can screw your 3/8"x1/4"MIP fitting into, screw them in and don't forget to use glue on them. Now you can attach all 4 end caps to your 2 pipes, remember to prime and glue them on... your project should look something like this now..

In a quick test fit with the crash bumper on you can see its a close fit, and I actually found that you need a little more clearence so the nozzles don't hit the crash bumper... this is easily fixed by drilling out the bolt holes on the crash bumper just a few mm's, take your drill and increase the hole toward the back so that the bumper can slide foward when its bolted up, remember you only need a few mm's

Next put your spraying tubes with the fitting on the right side onto the IC and attach with zip ties, put them on semi-tight but not all the way because you might have toadjust the tube a little when you test the sprayers out. Now you can attatch a section of your 3/8" tube to the 2 fittings on the tube and insert the 3/8" tee in the middle of the hose, then run the next section of hose from the tee, behind the IC pipe and thento the check valve, I found the best place to put the valve in was where the hose kinda leveled out behing the drivers side lower grille, here there was plenty of room to fit the valve and it could easily rest on the inside of the bumper once it was put back on,

then just put a small section of hose running to the check valve then attatch it to the fitting on the quick disconnect. Yout pretty much done here, fill up your tank and have some one pull the wiper stalk, keep a eye on the IC to see if the nozzles are misting where you want them to. If satisfied, tighten the zip ties all the way so the pvc pipes stay in place.

Your done, just wire up the pump to your switch and mount it where you want. (I wont explain how to wire it, as that is not my forte, I had a friend do that for me)

I ended up painting the lower pvc pipe black because I didn't want it to be so obvious there behind the grille. and remember all this was done on my 225 with the Tcarbon FMIC kit, other IC kits will vary with how you might have to setup your misters

nice ... quick question. if you use the factory washer tank, then what do you use to wash your windows?
