Default Need advice on purchasing 2000 TT

Hi everyone. A friend of my sister is selling his 2000 TT (black/silver). It only has 25,000 miles on it. He initially is asking $15,000. After a bit of my own research, I have found that Galves values the vehicle at $8,300 on a trade in. There is no allowance, according to Galves, for the extremely low mileage. The car is certainly worth more than $8,300 on a private sale. Additionally, I don't believe my sister's friend has done more research than look up the car at kbb.com, which values the car at $10,225based on70,000 miles, private sale, and $11,100based on25,000 miles, private sale.

Can anyone offer any advice on what they think a reasonable offer on the car would be? Does this vehicle command the $15,000 he is asking? It is in pristine condition.

Thanks for you help!

Although you can get an 01 or 02, 225 with a few more miles for about the same price.

Forgive my ignorance, but what does the 225 mean?

And it is fwd.

means it has 225hp and awd.

the one you are looking at is 180hp and fwd.

It still a good deal with low miles but like said above you can get a 225 with 60-80k for the same price.

Keep in mind that in the midwest these cars are just not as common or as cheap as they can be found elswhere, same goes for BMW cars. For my area that is a bit steep, regarless of the low miles I would not go over 11k for that car around here. It took me a while to find a clean example with low miles for under 11.

According to his profile, he is in NJ, I wouldn't consider that Mid-West.

I am located in Long Branch, NJ roughly between New York City and Philadelphia.

I would like to concentrate on purchasing my sister's friend's car as opposed to looking for a bit later model with more miles and a bigger engine. For one, my budget is limited. Two, I know he has taken extremely good care of the car.Three, he is motivated to sell to me in particular as opposed to dealing with the process of selling to a stranger.

Ultimately, I am hoping the car isn't worth anywhere near what he thinks it is, and that I can convince him of such.

Perhaps I should contact my local Audi dealer and see if they would be kind enough to offer up their advice?
