Default need help.. coolant spec

Hey everyone. Timing belt job.. long story. Anyway I was wondering the spec of the radiator coolant needed. I know it's something listed in the owners manual.. something like G12.. there is a certain number my mechanic is looking for, but I can't seem to find the owners manual.

It's Pentosin G12.. Available from any Audi/VW dealer or you can get it online from ECSTuning.com or TTStuff.com

Actually if you are low and can't get the "official Audi brand" Any is OK as long as the color is correct. If you have the Orange Coolant you can not add the standard Green Coolant. It does not mix with the Orange. It will actually sink to the bottom with the less dense Orange Fluid floating on top. Plus the newer style coolant are better anyway because they are lighter and subsequently easier on the fuel pump. This and a lower freezing point is the reason why VW, GM, and others have moved to it.

That should Water Pump not fuel pump. If you have coolant in your fuel pump you have beyond major issues.

Unless you completely, and I mean completely flush the system. Never, ever, add anything to your cooling system other than G12 or distilled water. All of the other brands of coolant out there when they mix with G12 will creat a sludge and deposit throughout the system. G12 (and G12+ for the newer models) are formulated for these engines. It is readily available from many outlets including Napa. Yes, your local Autozone may not carry it, but that is not an excuse to use anything off the shelf. If you are low, just add some distilled water and then add G12 later when you find some.

thanks for the tips. I didn't know about the not being able to mix/sludge issue. If I do anything, I want to do it right. I used the G12, the same color that was in there.
