Default New cheap 225 downpipe? anybody try it?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Audi-...ht_2573wt_1166

Forever the 180 guys have had the luxury of the cheap ebay downpipes offering performance gains at a bargain price while us 225 guys had no options other than the $500-600 42dd pipe. It now looks like a manufacturer has finally started making cheap 225 downpipes...I wont lie this thing looks verrrry promising. Full 3 inch, 321 stainless steel, uses a flex section similar to the 42dd pipe but also uses the front hanger that 42dd no longer uses. It looks like there is a 120 cell cat option as well as a non cat version and it looks like you can pick one up for anywhere from about 190-205 bucks! I say even if the fitment isnt quite as perfect as the 42dd this is still a bargain at only about a third the price of the 42dd! Has anyone tried this pipe out or am i going to have to be the first? I say if it fits it would perform damn near on par with the 42dd pipe and would be a very worthy 200 bucks for the ~10 hp and 20 ft lbs and quicker spool

The problem is the ebay one does not say which one it is for as the 180 FWD is different then the 180 quattro and the 225 is different then both 180's

if they could tell you and back that up maybe give it a spin other wise I would stick with 42DD 10% off and free shipping until 10/23

your correct it does not specify in the auction title what tt it is for....but in the description of the part is specifically says "225 BHP Quattro Audi TT" I know downpipes are very different between models, but this one says it is for a 225 and says nothing about the 180 model and it has the tell tale hard turn right off the turbo flange which only the 225 down pipes have if you look at the 42dd ones, the 180 pipes have a much less severe bend right off the turbo flange. I emailed the vendor to tripple check.

just an update...i emailed the vendor and said
"so this will fit a 2002 audi tt 225 quattro correct?"
response i recieved...
"YES IT WILL, THANKS"

looks like it is legit! my prediction is 42dd might not be selling as many 225 down pipes anymore

It's worth a shot. I bought my 42 dp used since they were so expensive. If it works, you just saved a bunch of $$$. If it doesn't, it's gonna be a major pain in the *** to remove your stock dp without cutting it. Since your gonna need to drop the sub frame, it's gonna make the process more involved. I like the fact that it's stainless tho.

the difference are the bolts & gaskets steel 321 vs 409 which 321 is nicer looking but may last just as long although 409 stainless steel looks are secondary and the welding will be better may last a little longer.... you are assured if any problems of a replacement or money back from 42DD will not pass inspection being de-cat/test pipe and wonder with cat how many cells as well the price of ebay one.. It may be a shot but I am not going to be the test rat. I did that once before and will not ever do that again.... So for now I stick to 42DD and it may even be a infringement rights.

Not to mention eBay vendors have a reputation for being shady or not warranting their products.
