Default new cylinder head

So a while backI ruined my cylinder head (actually my timing belt is to blame) and now I'm shopping for a replacement head. I attempted to find a local garage/machine shop to rework the existing head, but I can't find any takers.

My TT is of the engine type AMU/BEA.

I have heard from some members that I can bolt on another head to this engine with no problem. Can anyone confirm which, if any other cylinder head codes will bolt straight onto my engine? I cannot find an AMU head anywhere.

Thanks,

MB

I actually was looking at a few, you have to just ask around as its one of the most searched for heads in the VW and Audi community, expect to pay about 800 for a good one or 300 for one that need to be fixed. Check your local junkyards I think that is where you will find the best deals. Good luck

Good luck that is all I can tell you, like I said before your best bet is the local junkyard try to find a Passat or a A4 96-99.

I was looking at the 2.0 & 2.2 long blocks... nice. What compression ratio can you get away with and what kind of power do you figure with a K04 turbo cartridge vs the Garrett kit from APR?

10:1 would be the highest i would run, but that makes tuning very important and race gas or water/meth almost amust. 9.5:1 (2000 atc/awd) would help improve both spool up time and off boost power. This would be better than going with a stroker personally speaking. Gives you better results and still able to use normal sw tuneswhile still being able to rev to 7500rpms on a stock head.

The easiest thing to do is just drop in some scat rods (atc and 225 engines) and you will have a 600+ hp car and handle all the low end torque you can throw at it.

As for head, there is an ongoing debate on large vs small port heads. It comes down to airflow vs velocity. A small port with a minor porting jobmaybe the best option cost vs power wise, not to mention install easy.

So you're saying that some 9.5:1 pistons without stroking it would be my best all around power gains? Can the stock crank handle that? What lift/duration cams would I want to run with that setup?

not the best in power gains, but overall better for a street car. Better throttle response, still able to rev and faster spool. The crank is not a problem until your in the 400+whp range if not more. As for cams, most go with some cat cams from www.qedpower.com
