Default new to forum, my tt died and I need help

Hi all,
I've been lurking a few months and this is my first post. I have a 2001 Audi tt quattro 225hp. I was driving it yesterday and came to a set of lights and it just died. No warning lights lit up and no weird noises. Car still turns over easily, but thats all it will do, just wont start. Any idea's? Any help would really be appreciated. thanks in advance.

seems like your alternator to me considering thats what happened to me and it wasnt cheap but then again its an audi and theres like three different alternators and you wont know which one you need until you take it off which is not fun but good luck...who knows it could be something else

Nope, its not the alternator, it still has plenty of juice. It actually turns out to be the dreaded timing belt!! My mechanic says he believes that it didn't do any damage as the car was at an idle when it happened. Anyways he says it going to be $605.00 dollars. AmI getting the shaft on this or what?

While he's in there, make sure to replace the water pump impeller, belt tensioner (the bearing it what usually fails, notthe belt itself)and thermostat as well. $600-700 generally covers it at an independent shop

PS, I got this kit http://www.dieselgeek.com/Categories...l+1.8T+Engines

ECStuning.com also sells one

Wow, the same thing happened to me, at a light and everything. However, my engine was totaled. Luckily I was under warranty. The dealer’s invoice was $6,000 or $8,000 either way I'm happy I had that warranty.
