Default New here :)

Hi all, im new here, i am considering buying a TT quattro 2002 model for me as a daily driver, atm i own a 2003 540i m-sport and a crappy old holden (im in australia) anyway the thing that has drawn me to a TT is that not so long ago i was driving home from work and i raced a TT now i really thought my bmw would have destroyed it but that was not to be, didnt really think the TT was quick all these years anyway the question i also have is what are the 0-60 and1/4 mile times of a stock TT as i have conflicting numbers all over the internet and its pushing to believe that the TT that i raced was far from stock. btw i test drove a TT and wasent impressed with the performance but i havent driven a Quattro yet will be by the end of the week.

cheers Laps

Thing you need to know:

Three different trims:

FWD 180 Coupe or Roadster
Quattro 180 Coupe or Roadster
225 Quatro Coupe or Roadster.

The 225 is worth the extra money initially for the extra power, stouter engine and better exhaust setup.

It's also decently quicker in stock form than the 180 versions which if you drove a FWD you drove. All versions really take quite well to mods and extremely well to chip tuning. It is not hard to outrun a 540 but I'm sure it was a chipped 225 as I've driven my fair share of 540's over here in Germany and they are no slowch. As for the conflicting numbers, there are two different engines as I hope I helped you understand and thats why there are so many different numbers.

I personally have a 180 Quattro Coupe and would not trade it for a 225, reason being is simple, I got a hell of a deal, and when I go stage III plus, it won't matter about the 225 components because I'll forge my bottom end at the same time.

Cincy, I know you think that the 180 is better, but I'm just giving the new guy a welcome and letting him know the surface level.

Welcome newbie

They both have their advantages, as you knowfrom vortex what my reasons are. A 225 is just a better plateform for someone that isnt going to go nuts on, just basic bolt-ons. A 2000 180i feel is more for the tuner that plans for bigger things. Like i have said before, to each their own.

Welcome! Good luck on your search for a TT!
They're great cars, I can pretty much guarantee you'll fall in love with them.
