Default New TT driver

what up guys,

I just got an audi tt from my sister who moved away and i am in charge of her automobile. Its an '03 tt 1.8 AT convertible. I looked around the car and shes dinged it up and hurt the baby a little bit but i love this damn car. I am so glad i am getting to drive it now. I never realized how slow it was though. not that it is slow but i thought it was faster than it is. So i gotta start working on mods for this thing. first things first im gonna chip it. how much hp will that give it?

but besides all that, i just wanted to say hi cause im gonna be coming around here a lot, and i feel like tt owners have a certain love for this beautiful car that no one else will know.

welcome to the forums, and you're right, theres a love.

I recently banged my up a bit. I didn't sleep for 3 days, and didn't eat for 2.

I'd say its more than 'just a car'.

As for chips, theres a few options out there, all are around $500, and usually around 30hp. Torque really jumps though, and thats what you really feel.

Look for APR, REVO, and GIAC as the main choices.

uh... you have an automatic. Right there, your car is going to be significantly slower due to its higher weight (also its a convertible), torque converter loss of power, and less ability to launch.

However, it could be more comfortable (just crusing).

A chip will bring it up to maybe the speed of a stock manual car? Then you'll know they're not that slow

yeah for sure if it was up to me i would get a regular manual hard top, i dont even use the convertible.

the tiptronic is still pretty good on these audis but i dont know the the max torque and when to shift for best speeds. it seems that leaving it in sport mode is the fastest for the car. god i wish it was a stick so bad.

As far as the chip, its going to give you about 30hp to the engine, but you may want to put a new Divertion Valve on it when you chip it, the OEM one tends to go out under higher boost. Good Luck
