I have a 2002 Audi TT FWD and over the last week it first seemed reluctant to go into reverse and now won't at all. All the other gears operate normally; however, when the shifter is in the reverse position, the car acts like it is in first gear and goes forward. This is what is confusing me. It's not like the shifter won't go into reverse, it is just that when it is in reverse, the car goes forward like it's in first gear. No check engine light. I've heard this might be a gear shift/selector fork issue, but I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions at what to look at first or if there is anything easy to try before having to take the transmission out.

 

Amy- Did you ever figure out what was causing this? My 02 is doing the EXACT same thing!
