Nokian tires
Question regarding changing from: Stock Audi runflat all season tire = 245 40 18 to
New Nokian WR all season tire = 235 40 18
Since the Nokian 235 40 18 tire is similar in % speedometer change from
the stock 45 40 18 as is the stock 255 35 19 tire but in different directions,
would the use of the Nokian tire be close enough to stock to have minimal impact on handling and gas
milage? WOULD USING THE NOKIAN NON-STOCK TIRE VOID THE MANUFACTURER'S WARRANTEE?
see below data
Audi stock tire = 245 40 18 New Nokian WR tire = 235 40 18
Sidewall: 3.9 in Sidewall: 3.7 in
Radius: 12.9 in Radius: 12.7 in
Diameter: 25.7 in Diameter: 25.4 in
Circumference: 80.8 in Circumference: 79.8 in
Revs/ mile: 784.0 Revs/ mile: 794.0
Speedometer reading with non-stock tire is 1.1% too fast
When your speedo reads 60 mph, you are actually traveling at 59.3 mph
two other available Audi stock tires are:
255 35 19 Sidewall : 3.5 in, Radius = 13.0 in, Diameter = 26 in, Circum = 81.8 in, Revs/mile: 775.0
Speedometer reading with non-stock tire is 1.2% too slow.
When your speedo reads 60 mph, you are actually traveling at 60.7 mph
245 45 17 Sidewall = 4.3 in, Radius = 12.8 in, Diameter = 25.7 in,, Circum = 80.7 in, Revs/mile: 785.0
Speedometer reading with non-stock tire is 0.1% too fast.
When your speedo reads 60 mph, you are actually traveling at 59.9 mph[/font]

your just wondering if you'll void a warrenty... no... you won't... and if any dealer ever tried to say its void tell them there full of it, Dealerships sometimes try to gyp people when they can... not all of em... but if they try to for having different tires there wrong, same as different rims.
Get whatever tires you want, having a speedo off by 10% might be bad (not for the car, just for the speeding ticket) but those arent even worth mentioning. For handling... on a stock rim id say get wider tires (255) besides, they look better too, the tire sticks out just a little bit past the rim.
