Default OBD II - VAG.COM - connection problems doesn't display trouble codes

Well I have an air bag light on and the passenger air bag off light by the gear shifter is always illuminated. No matter if I have the passenger air bag in the on or off position this light always displays off.

So I tried a few products to self diagnose the problem using the OBD II port. The software used was Auterra scan tool for palm, I tried both their CAN-BUS software and the standard NON CAN-BUS.

It connected to the car but no trouble codes appeared, I also have a service light on and an intermittent left Zeon light. None of these coeds appeared.

my main question is does my 2002 Audi TT 225 Quattro use CAN-BUS or NON CAN-BUS because the Bentley manual says its CAN-BUS but ross-tech.com say CAN wasn't used till 2007? Now the Bentley manual only covers 2000-2006 so I am confused what software and product to purchase next? I have access to Windows OS via boot camp on my Macbook Pro if I require Windows OS instead of Palm

Oh and if anyone has had any of the above problems and can help please also post suggestions.

its normal for the airbag light to stay on when the passenger side is switched off,
basically its to let you know the passenger airbag is inoperative so not a problem

even when it is turned to the 'on' position the light still displays passenger air bag off.

its the contacts on the switch below the barrel where the connector plugs in they tend to get greased up

I'm having the same problem, even with the passenger airbag switch in the "on" position, the "passenger airbag off" light stays on. To get to the contacts, do I need to remove the glove box to access the switch and then take the switch apart to clean it ?

I had the airbag light on when I first got my car. If the sensor gets disconnected and even if you plug it back in, the light will stay on. I had the dealer reset mine under warranty.

I think I got it...sprayed contact cleaner inside the lock cylinder. Tweaked it on and off a dozen times or so and gave it a few jiggles. Didn't have to dissassemble anything. Light is now off, hope it stays that way.

Good info... I'll have to try it on mine.

The air bag light on the dash ONLY goes on when the weather is cold (below 35 degrees F). As the car warms up the air bag light starts to blink on and off and finally turns off when the car is fully warmed up. Weird. The pass side air bag light does not do this though.
