OEM Axle Fluid (G052145S2) ES#4766
anyone use this before? i was only aware of the haldex unit and not of the rear differential guess i'll look at my bentley repair manual to find this rear differential i think ecs tuning is on crack sometimes i look through the website under the 225 TT and find a ton of stuff that shouldnt be there stuff that doesn't pertain to the Audi TT225 weird--its like the web site designer doesnt know where to put certain products
From what I've heard, the fluid in the diffs and tranny are supposed to be lifetime fluid, ie, never change it.
Dunno if I really like the sound of that though, when I get to it, it'll probably be redline fluid that goes back in. I have no idea what the OEM stuff is, or how good it is.

yeah right dont believe audi when they say their stuff is lifetime that doesnt make any sense...cause no matter what kind of fluid they use it still gets dirty and containmanted in some way. have you done your tranny fluid yet? its nasty and the bevel box's drain plug was full of metal shavings....i just want to make sure there is a rear differential other than the haldex i've done my haldex and saw the what i think is the rear defferential but the bentley doesnt have a repair step for changing the oil in there.
The fluid and filter change in the rear drive assembly is a required maintenance activity every 20,000 miles. Manual transmission should be drained and refilled every 40,000 miles (not Audi, but on the recommendation of many mechanics I know).
The rear differential inside the ribbed casing that the axles come out of. The Haldex unit is connected to it #2 in the pic below. All of the pieces together make up the rear Final Drive Assembly (Quattro only) .
BTW...the part number for the oil is #1a.

so the oil in the rear diff is different than the haldex unit correct? i believe it takes 1 qt of that oil i listed also is there a filter for it other than the one for the haldex? in that pic you put the oil in the number 2 case where the haldex is......the bentley shows a oil fill plug on that ribbed case under the number 1 oil pic
ok i found out that it is NOT the same oil used by the haldex unit it is totally different the rear diff is a sealed unit but can be drained by a 17mm plug on the bottom and a fill hole somewhere at midlevel and takes 1 qt of that gear oil i posted in the topic field NEXT on my to-do list then the FMIC and boost hoses, rear 19mm sway, dv relo kit, and paint my calipers black (white rings)
Correct, they are seperate.
Not many have a hex wrench big enough to unscrew that differential drain plug (I know I dont), but heres a cool trickI use, but not many think of. You can make an adapter to use a standard socket by using a 17mm bolt, and a couple jam nuts, firmly loctited, or welded in my case,in place. Bolt head goes in drain plug, nuts get turned by the socket.
