you can reuse the plug, but i'd recommend replacing the copper crush washer. the plugs do cross thread easily, basically, if i can't thread it all the way in by hand, back it out and try again. Should only need to get a wrench on it to give it that one final crank to seal the washer.

Only use full synthetic. I use Mobil 1. Something like 5W30 will work, somewhat easier to get too. Filters... lots of different ones people use. I use the Purolator PureOne filters.

The computer will not reset, you'll need to do that yourself. involves pulling on one of the 2 little stalks coming out of the cluster, while turning the key to on, and then pushing the other stalk in... i dunno, get a vagcom cable, its easier. if you need the procedure for doing it with the cluster, either search here, its been covered, or go to the audiworld.com tech articles. its there too.

just a heads up... the filter is usually on very tight and a huge PITA to get off. Make sure you have a good filter wrench.

I second that. The filter is a pita to get off every time and even if I just handtighten it after 3-4k miles that thing is stuck on there like someone glued it on. I use Castrol Syntec 0W30 European Formula. It's an excellent Oil and protects in the Coldest Winter and Hottest Summer. It flows well and protects well. I was going to just run it in the Winter but a lot of people are running it in the Summer as well since it has excellent sheer strength. Prior to that I have used Mobile 1 0W40 which is also a great oil and more easily available than the Castril 0W30. Only place I can find it is at certain Autozone Stores. As far as Oil Filters go, I usually use the larger Capacity Mann Filters that ECS tuning sells. I usually buy 5 or 6 at the time so I have them handy at time an Oil change comes up. As far as the plug goes, I am using a reusable Magnetic plug and use a new washer to make sure it seals well. The first time I changed the oil I didn't replace the washer and I had a constant little Oil leak that drove me insane.
Do yourself a favor and get new washers. They are cheap insurance against leaks.

Oh yes, and another thing. You will get messy on this ride Getting the filter off is only the beginning. Trying to snake it through all the plumbing and hoses without spilling tons of oil is another

^^ good point. Make sure you have some rags near by.

I HIGHLY suggest buying an oil filter wrench that is a belt thing that you attach a 1/2 inch socket wrench on to. It crushes the filter while turning it... Its the only one that could get my filter off. It was around $8 at advance auto parts.

Really? I just use superhuman arm strength.

Seriously though, I've NEVER used a filter wrench in my life. A few on here have seen me in person, you may not have guessed that by my build. I'm a skinny little guy.

The person that put my engine back together f'ed me by overtightening my filter and i the socket would just slip on the filter. I had to gorilla glue the socket to the filter and then break it free. This is the main reason i hate letting people touch my car, they always over tighten stuff!
