Default Orange side thing in headlights?

OK on the older model TT's there is this orange reflector thing on the side of the headlights. If I were to open up the headlights would I beable to take that off?

I believe all Mk1 TTs have the side reflectors (perhaps the European models don't.) To remove them you will need to remove the front bumper and each headlight housing separately.

Once you have the headlights removed from the car, you need to put the entire housing into the oven so that you can pry the adhesive that is holding the glass from the housing. Then, remove the clips, and now your inner housing can be accessed for marker removal, putty (for the holes), changing the corner markers, and priming, painting and clearcoat.

thanks man. How do I get the cover back on? Do I need to buy some adhesive or will the old adhesive still be sticky?

you need to put the headlight on a wet towel on a cookie sheet so you dont burn the housing (375*). When you put it back together you can either reheat it and use the old sealent or for a better alternative, remove the old, apply new sealent. heat and press back together.

You would need adhesive sealant to put back together. If you use the oven over using a heat gun you might want to put down a wet towel under them on top of a pizza pan or cookie sheet. Under the reflector are little tabs that need to be removed, filled with Bondo and painted. I'm sure no one mention you can find the instructional pdf on ttstuff.com cause if you did a search in the TT forum it has been addressed a multitude of times. I still have to do this myself cause I bought smoked corners. I need a freinds with a garage. Any volunteers or anyone in theBroward Countyneed to do theres?

what year TT do you have because I'm not sure I know what orange thing you are talking about. There is an amber/orange turn signal.. is that what you are talking about??
