Default Performance Chip

I want to get a chip for my TT, but I'm not quite sure which brand would give me the best bang for my buck. Anyone know how I should go at this?

I have the 2000 1.8 FWD...yeah I know.

no debate or argument. they will all give similar gains but going by the numbers the uni tune seems to give a little more power.

Hah I have a fwd as well !
But my vote on a chip is between revo and arp!

Both are $500
And *almost* do the same performance

Iv heard both are very good products it just witch one u can get ur hands on faster and easier

i figured everyone on this forum will prolly tell you to get the chip they have. Me personally, i have the revo technic chip (for almost 4 years now) and i love it. Someone on here told me Revo was an "aggressive tune" which makes me feel good about it. Either way you go, just make sure you get a pro to do it for you. It really is the best bang for your buck($500 that is). Next up i would say would be a downpipe. With a chip and downpipe, and maybe a nice lil exhaust system OHHH ZOOM ZOOM

Ohh one more thing, for watever chip you get, make sure you invest in a nice DV. The factory one will hold up, but prolly not for long.

Hey guys, I noticed noone mentioned neuspeed. Im a newby with this too so i wasnt sure if neuspeed was considered a bad chip. Also, I have a nuespeed intake (bought the car with it) and a mechanic that did my timing belt told me that an open air intake on these cars could actually hurt performance. He said that heat builds up under the hood and it sucks in hot air, instead of cool air (more dense oxygen molecules). Just wondering everyones opinion on this, or if there has been dino runs to test it. Thanks

the only chips i would consider bad would be those stupid things on ebay that prob hurt more than they help

unitronic, apr, GIAC, nuespeed, revo they are all good. The tunes are slightly different so the power outputs between files is different

intake will not hurt performance your mechanic is a retard. we have intercoolers so it doesnt matter what the enginebay temp is. Especially at the amount of power we make. After a certain point a side mount isnt efficient so you upgrade to a purty front mount. More ambient air will produce more power but losing some factory intake plumbing isnt going to hurt a dang thing.
