Default Power window issue, Which part do I need/Where should I start?

My passenger window has always been a little uncooperative since I bought the car, I was just waiting for it to get worse or totally break before I fixed it- Well the time has come[:'(]

I have replaced a regulator before on my old A4 because the plastic clips that hold the window broke but that was easier to diagnose b/c the window was obviously loose and could be wiggled.

The TT window is still tight but takes multiple tries to make it all the way up, if I use the auto-up feature it will go up part way and then reverse and go back down.

I used to "fix" this by rolling it all the way down and then back up and usually it would go up like it should with one or two tries.

Unfortunately the other day I left the windows down In a torrential rain and now it is really screwed up, took about 50 tries to stay up after letting it thoroughly dry, and I did have a blown fuse. The 4mm drop when door opens also doesn't function now either and I am afraid to roll it down b/c I am making a 6 hour road trip tomorrow.

My question is where do I start? Wiring? Window switch? Door position sensor? Regulator or motor? Does VAG-com have the ability to diagnose this problem?

I really don't want to replace parts that don't need it-

Sounds like a bad window motor.

Their is too much tension and the window thinks it's closing on someones finger or something. Try to see if it's binding. Also- when grese gets wet it becomes very hard... there is a good chance you may just need to re-lube the track up. I had this problem with a car that was in a flood.
