Im having this same problem.
Just replaced the battery and Coolent temp sensor...

but still starting in the morning, it will turn over then sputterout and die....but try again and im good to go, no problems for the day.

no codes

havent tried testing the maf....how do i do this?

waiting for "OK" still gives me the problem.

PS. i still heart my TT

 

Does it really say somewhere that you need to wait for the OK to start your car? I always thougt it was just checking sensors and making sure everything was ok. It would make more sence to say: OK to start engine or something like that. Also- I dont think it says anything about this in the manual.....

 

you dont have to wait for it to say ok, but its a good idea if you have the time to wait the 4 seconds it takes

 

I also have this problem with my car, starts rightup on the second try just as well.It only occurs when teh car sits for over 8 hours or so, and seems to occur when I have less than 100 miles left on my fuel tank. I am sure this also has something to the lean mixture codes my ecu is throwing at me. Since I have changed the maf, the plugs and a coil pack, no codes or non starts yet.
