Default question about putting wheels back on..

My friend is letting me use his torque wrench to put my wheels back on and I need to know how far to torque them. I have heard that 80 ft lbs is good but I just wanted to see what yall have done? thanks

i dont have a torque wrench. i just torqued mine as hard as i could wih the little bar. its probably more then 80 Ft-lbs, but then again, my old ones were on there at about 220Ft-lbs due to a fantastic airtool...[&:]

Same here. its safe cause i know they are really tight and not over torqued like a shop would install them, meaning i can get them back off

yes shops torque the **** out of them so you have to pay them to get your wheels off!
One more Ft-lbs on one of my wheels and i wouldn't have been able to get them off!

the only problem with tightening them as hard as you can with a breaker bar is that you probably cant get them off with the audi supplied lug wrench.

I only use the audi wrench to tighten it. Never had a problem removing the bolts after or them coming loose at any time. And i have had the wheels on and off way to many times.

Audi says torque to 90 lb/ft but I've found this to be too soft and the nuts came loose (on the wheels, not in my head). I torque to 97 lb/ft and have no problems.

Umm yeah... Even I could hand tighten the lug nuts enough so they wouldn't fall off!
I really could!
