Default Radiator drain plug? or worse?

I was coming home from the Serj Tankian concert on Thursday, and my coolant light came on. I quickly pulled over to notice that my coolant was leaking all over the road out of the drain plug. I pushed it back to its position and it stopped leaking. I refilled with water from the gas station i happened to be by. The next day i looked over the cooling system and it seemed to by running fine, let it heat to a running temp, and no leaks. I then refilled it with audi coolant + water 60 to 40 mix. It was fine for 2 days, but on my way home tonight... same thing happened. The car was 1 notch above middle in heat when it happened. I have been meaning to get around to changing my thermostat but i need an extension and havent had the time to do it yet. I dont know if my radiator drain plug is going bad... the radiator itself... or something else? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Oh and my MAF died on me too! Yay!

Its push and turn for the closed position on that drain, that is what you did, right?
