Default Random Rant about the glory of previously owned cars

I wanted to change my plugs, get the code off my ecu, install my boost gauge today, and clean the thing inside some, really groody, previous owners were not good at maintaining it. I got absoultely none of that done. Guy had had a inside cellphone booster/microphone/speaker system in there, wired it so it drained the battery, and had an antenna on the inside and out side the windshield.on the wiring, he had two hots jammed in with fuses, and grounded to the bottom torx bolt you reveal once you pop of the panel, i thought just the top, yellow tagged one, was grounded. There was, without exageration, 30 feet of wires and four pounds of equipment for the phone stuff I pulled from behind both driver and pass. side kicker panels, in addition to all the ones running up both sides of the windshield, under the carpet , and to the fuses. Ridiculous. Only plus was that I found they wired a plug for the radar detector into the map lights (I didnt realize that whole shebang just popped out with tension clips), wil be handy to just stick the radar dector up there now. At least the car is like 5 pounds lighter and not as much a cancer and fire hazard from all the wiring and unneeded antenna shizza. On the ecu, friggin wiper arms will not budge, decided to spary them and let them sit over night.

I have seen a couple of used ecu's that are already giac or apr flashed that are for sale. My car is an 01 225qr, and I think sometime in 01 there was a change in the ecus for the tt's. i want to check my ecu's code/model so I can see if its the same as those that are for sale. If I can buy a chipped ecu for cheaper than flashing or cheaper than selling price for my ecu, then I would do it.
