Angry Rawrr!

The claws are coming out, and the fangs are showing!

Most of you probably remember the hassle I went through about a year ago trying to get my TT flashed... You probably also remember my struggle with the code P1335 starting only 4 days after being flashed with GIAC.

Well, I've finally reached my breaking point!

For awhile it seemed as though the MBC has resolved these issues, and all was well in TT land. However lately this has not been the case, and I'm pissed about it! I'll try to keep this from being a rant, but my P&Q's are certainly done minding their own.

What I'd really like to know is what it is that a shop does to clear the codes, compared to what I'm doing. When a shop cleared P1335, the car went back to normal; as if I was crazy for bringing it in. Yet, when I do the same damn thing with vag-com; nothing changes! I'll get the readiness code, DTCs are gone, the boost is how it always was, vac is the same... But the RPMS still move as if the car is stock! What's up with that?? This has had be puzzled for a little bit now. I just haven't said anything since I was trying to work it out myself.

Anyway my claws and fangs are out because I decided to write a letter to GIAC. Screw messing around with one of their shops! I'm done with paying $50 to hear the same damn story "Your car has a code P1335 - Engine torque monitor 2 control limit exceeded... We cleared it, and took it for a test drive... everything seems to be working properly." BLAH!

I'm more than willing to work with GIAC to come to a solution, but I'll be damned if it's coming out of my wallet!

that sucks. Hopefully GIAC will work with you on that. Had you taken your car previously to the giac place to get the code cleared? When you go to a dealer or something to clear a trouble code it would be the same as doing it with the vag com. If you dont have an issue and it was a cylinder misfire or something it wont come back BUT if you have an issue and you clear it usually you have 3 key cycles and it will appear again. If you took it back to the place that originally flashed your car they may have gone back into the program and changed something... I have not read anything like this in a giac flash before, i am considering GIAC and uni, more giac because they are local. Either way, good luck with getting the issue resolved.

Ive had the exact same code recently, I'm not chipped but I do have a diode. I also have an MBC installed. The car was normal up until three weeks ago when I had this code come up for the first time. I cleared it with vag-com as well but it came back ten minutes after I started the car at idle. That lead me to clear it directly from block 01. It hasn't come back "YET" if thats what you've done and still no dice then keep on track with emailing GIAC.
good luck.

I've had my car at the shop that flashed it numerous times; which is supposedly a respectable shop within the Audi/VW community. My opinion of them is obviously not the best, so I'll leave their name out of it... for now!

I've also had my car at a Revo shop in NY to get somewhat of a second opinion. They agreed with me that it was the tuning. Even went as far to tell me that they used to be a GIAC shop. That one of the owners who has a 2001 Quattro 180 TT had the same damn problem as me. That after he got tired of trying to fix it, he switched to Revo and the issue has not returned. While my car was there they also cleared the code, and everything was fine.

I did not have vag-com at this point. Which is why I was depending on tuning shops to clear the codes for me.

I'm still wondering if there is some vag-com secrete to clearing codes.

With trying to keep a clear conscious; I cannot recommend GIAC to anyone with a 2000-2001 quattro 180 TT. Seeing as it's only been the early model 180's with this problem and GIAC... At least from what I've read.

I've been trying to get rid of this code for a year.
I've done everything from oil catch can, IAT sensor, MAF, Throttle Positioning Sensor, disconnecting the battery, vag-com, taking it to the frigging shop that flashed it... You name it; I've done it!

If I don't' receive a response from GIAC by end of day tomorrow I plan to call them. I want my TT running perfectly for H20.

I am just on my way out the door and didnt read the other posts so this may be repeatative but how do you have the MBC hooked up? when I frst did mine I plugged the bungs for the N75 and had countless problems, including the code you speak of...shortly after I spoke with Cincy and he said he did not plug the two bungs on the N75 and I tried that and my car drove like a dream ever since...like I said this may or may not be your problem but either way if you have the MBC in place of the N75 try leaving the N75 plugged in electronically and leaving the two bungs open.

Becca,

I've had the APR on my 2000 180 for 6+ years, can't say I have had any problem whatsoever with their programming. Maybe you should drop the GAIC altogether? APR is a little more conservative with their program, but it's probably not a big enough difference to worry about.

TurboTT: My N75 is still plugged in, and I didn't not plug the holes. I can only imagine the problems that would cause! : /

Steve: I'd love to ditch GIAC, and go with a more dependable company. Problem is there's no good reason for myself and others to have to deal with this in the first place. So I'll work towards a solution. If GIAC decides their programing is not compatible with my TT great; if they work out the bug even better. Regardless this needs to be resolved, and I'll fight until it is.

Mysteryman: Heh! My longest streak is 3 days. Hopefully that will be changed in the very near future!
