i am 20 years old and bought a tt last year...its the 225 coupe 6 speed...theres now 80000 miles on itbut at 73000 a tensioner failed causing the timing belt to snap..all 20 valves were bent and i needed to get a new head for the car. after the parts labor and taxthe bill was 5500$ that i had to pay bc of no warranty. after a little research on the internet i decided to speak directly with someone at audi america with hope of a little financial aid.the us owners manual says to check the timing belt at 105000 miles. it also says that every 10000 miles the car should be inspected by a audi dealersip. i could never pay the 200 they wanted every 10000 miles to do a "check up" so naturally i said **** it. a mechanic at this paticular dealership said that hes been working on audis for 20- years and on all of there vehicles the timing belt should not be checked but replaced every 3 years or 60000 miles, bc its a rubber belt not a chain.... this goes against the owners manual, and he also told me that rather than correcting the misprint audi generally deals with theese sort of issues on a case by case basis. i called complaing about how this was all bullshit...i take my car to the same langan audi everytime for oil changes and there mechanics NEVER once told me "hey you got this many miles on your car you oughtta have us run some tests and make sure everything is performing properly"...they gave me a reference number and a fax number and had me fax the receipts...they said that they would evaluate the case and get back to me in 2busieness days.. sure enough 2 days later i received a phone call telling me good news... not only were they going to help me out, but they are refunding the entire amount shown on the receipt (which, by the way included a 149.99 inside and out detailing, that they must not have seen) of $5482.37. i pretty much took it as a loss at first but now that im getting this back im going to put half of it on my loan so that i can refininace and save a little on a monthly basis, and with the other half i am going to have it chipped, borla exhaust with 5 " tips to fill the bumpers nicly, hks diverter valve, and vertical doors...i gotta put in a little extra to get all this but the point of my story is that i went from a 6000$ hole to having the freshest tt coupe in upstate ny...
