don't think I haven't thought it. ; )

dunno about 'simply' welding oil soaked cast aluminum though. only thing worse is pot metal.

Its a bit like the helicoil. either way steel pwns aluminum.

Well after reading the posts I think it best to replace the oil pain, no brainer the prices on eBay are like $60...... Just install myself.

Good call. Thats what I did too. Make sure you get some good sealant. It's a really easy to replace as well, just make sure you have some long hex sockets.
