Default Reasonable Price?

Hello TT folks. I am seriously considering a buying a used TT. I just wanted to get a check on the price. There is a 2003 TT 1.8 convertible with 45K miles, impeccable condition with no major service issues and no accidents. Selling price from a dealership is $18,500. I have looked at kbb, autotrader, ebay, cars.com, CL, etc to see estimated prices and the prices are all over the place, but seem to be close. My goal is to pay no more than $17.5 with a warranty after some negotiations. Is that reasonable or am I insane?

Cheers!

I would expect them to sell it for less than that.. they just have to know you are willing to walk away.

Yes. I think you could get the car alone for less, but NOT with a warranty. Bumper to bumper 3yr/36k warrantys are $3k. A dealer is not going to take $4k off a $18.5k car. I think you could get the car itself for around $16.8. It all depends how long the car was sitting there and if the dealer is willing to work with you.

I picked up my '05 TT Quattro coupe with 40K miles...remainder factory warranty and 2 yr. additional CPO for less than $20K.
