Default Replacing my headgasket. Edit: Timing Belt question.

So a while ago I had the "milkshake" in my oil. Ordered parts and a Bentley and I am about to do this thing. I really thought that the manual would go a little more into detail on the cylinder head removal... O well it seems easy enough to do I just had a question before I get to the Timing belt section. Is there some way to hold everything in place while I take off the head? I really don't wanna do the Timing belt **** if I don't have too. It was just done about 5k miles ago anyway. I have noticed that there are no write ups for this particular job, (I searched), So I will post pics of the procedure and I'm sure I will have a few questions along the way. I'm planning on this taking a week because I work full time and I have to send it to the machine shop to get checked.

Also, many might ask what caused it in the first place. A friend borrowed the car and ran over something and caused a coolant leak which led to an overheating problem before I was able to find out about it. I guess i'll never trade cars with someone again, even though it was only for like 30mins.

Default Little progress

I got all the way to taking off the intake manifold when I realized that I couldn't find the right allen bit to unscrew the bolts. I'll go pick one up tomorrow I guess. I should get more stuff done tomorrow. I just wanted to get started a bit tonight.

From looking at writeups on timing belts, it doesn't seem bad because all I am doing is slipping the belt on and off. I have never done a timing belt myself, but I havent cleared enough stuff out of the way yet to know if i can just relieve tension on that belt without screwing with anything else? If not, it looks like I will have to remove crank pulley and around that point I can take off the belt? I was going by that big long write up on Audiworld.

Timing Belt replacement writeup with 61 pictures and 44 steps....>> - AudiWorld Forums

Looks like I only need to do about half the steps or so. Anyone want to chime in with an opinion?

Well I finally finished it. I worked on it off and on for a few weeks. Car starts and runs fine but I got a blinking cel when I accelerate. I'm starting a new thread about that. Other than that, it was a success. My writeup for this headgasket was an epic fail though. HAHA.
