Default DIY headgasket

I was looking for a how to headgasket for a 1.8t AEB. I dont have a book and trying not to buy one. I just need a step by step thread and the specs for the head bolts. I did search and only 2 pages came up for headgasket.

One other thing, can you reuse the head bolts?
Thanks for any one who helps.

DO NOT reuse the bolts... you'll need one 12pt tool to remove the old bolts, and a 6pt tool to torque the new bolts in.

as long as u havent blown the head gasket and there isnt any potential damage to the head or any possible warpage, then it MIGHT be safe to re use the headbolts... obviously u need a new gasket though..., but some companies will offer a discount with gasket and bolts so who knows

as for torque sequence and specs that u can prolly get from the dealer or find on google if u dont wanna wait for people to answer here... but did u blow the HG? or jsut preventitive maintenance?

Its a blowen HG. colant in the oil and oil in the colant. It smokes crazy. The cuz of it is, I put a filter on for the pvc. Some how the line got cluged and the pressure in the crank case had to go some where. So it took out the HG and it might of took the turbo seals. The pressure got so high it pushed oil out the outlet of the turbo.

Wait that dosent make any sence. How could crank pressure get passed the pistons and it wouldnt be high enough to do any thing to the HG. I can see burnning oil from it but fluid mixing cant be from that.

Let me tell you guys what happened and maybe some one can shine some light on the problem.
So I woke up to move my car bc it was in the way for a diff car to leave. It started like ****, moved the car out, then pulled it in the garage. Then it started smoking like seafoam. It was the smell of oil. Then I saw the turbo was starting to smoke pretty good. So I turn it off and found oil in the colant. Oil was coming out of the EX of the turbo. I pulled the dip stick and a bit of pressure came out of the tube. I looked at the stick and of course colant and oil was mixing. It didnt look bad at all. So I started it up thinking it needed to get fully warm. I left the dip stick out a lil so the pressure can be released. I let it warm up, the turbo stoped smoking and leaking. But I was still blowing smoke out the exhuast. It did go down a little but was still comeing out. Truned it off and more oil was in the colant and lot more colant on the dipstick.

So how the HG blow idk. I never seen a HG go out so fast. I drove it less then a block. IDK what do you guys think?

found some info for you. My school has a mitchell5 account so this should help a little.
tightening / removal sequence

then for the bolts it says to do them all to 30 ft/lbs, then 44 ft/lbs, then an additional 90 deg turn

So I did a comp test and I have 180psi in all cylinders. The headgasket should be fine if I have numbers like that. What else could mix fluids like that? Could the oil filter houseing mix fluids? I know my mazdas filter houseing could mix fluids, idk about the audi though.

Just because you have good compression doesn't mean you don't have a blown head gasket. If the gasket fails between an oil port and coolant port you could get that mixture. Most of the time, however, the compression is effected. First thing i would do is check the oil cooler. That could mix the coolant and oil.

well im not exactly sure how if its the same on the 1.8 but on the 2.8 you just need to remove the oil filter. then there's one large nut that holds on the square aluminum part (heat exchanger). The aluminum part will have 2 coolant hoses attached to it. Take it out and look for any hole. check o ring also as they go bad allot. Odds are this will not be whats causing your problem but its where i would start.
