Default Replacing shifter **** on a 2002 Audi TT Quattro?

Hi Everyone,
I have recently bought an 2002 Audi TT Quattro manual trans. and I would like to replace the shifter ****, has anyone done this before, is there anything i should keep in mind? are instructions anywhere on how to do this?

Please note, by shifter **** I simply mean just the tip of the shifter ****, not the whole entire shifter...

I am not really that familiar with replacing car parts...

Thanks in advance.

It Just twists off. After it brakes loose it will get easier.

About the only way to ensure an aftermarket **** will fit is to either get one specifically made for the TT (reputable sellers will specify so in their ad) or go with a universal mount which secures with locking screws.

Mine here is universal mount available at autozone and other parts stores.

it is weighted aluminum, polished, and feels/looks very nice, plus a bargain: $20. I've seen the hundred dollar ones on other TTs and TBH, they don't look 5x better despite the 5x price. They are nice and are of outstanding workmanship and so priced accordingly, just not worth the xtra money to me...except for bragging rights.

cheers.

Unhappy Odd Shifter in this TT

So I just replaced my shifter **** but discovered my shift stick is not like any I have ever seen in a TT. Has anyone seen this type in a TT before? It is not compatible with the 'Big' shift **** kit without additional machining, which I had to do to the **** fitting to make it work.

So TTQ2K2, where did you get that gated shifter plate? I have not seen them available online. Did you make it yourself?
