Default Stereo to replace OEM in 2001 TT

Is there a definitive list anywhere of aftermarket stereos that will fit and still allow the cover to close? I saw one thread where someone made the statement that any radio without ***** would work, but then in the same post, said he had a Pioneer with a big ****. LOL! Just hoping to find a short list somewhere.

Thanks, Steve

I installed a Kenwood BT901 with Blue tooth and it fits fine with the door closed. It sits back and leaves a noticeable gap between the head-unit and the install kit.

I pulled it forward a little and it looked better, but the *** would hit when opening the door. I like this unit. It does not have a CD player, but it has internal memory and USB and blue tooth with a separate mic that mounts nicely behind the instrument cluster.

I have a 2002 TT225 8N and installed the Asteroid SMART Dual Din unit by modifying my console. Looks factory and kept the cool aluminum door function. Even with it a couple inches lower the ashtray and storage compartment are perfectly fine and accessable. I have bluetooth, hands free phone, nice stereo, Nav, internet. Works fine with my Bose system.
