I had a problem with a revo tuner & vowed never to go back after I heard from all teh vw/audi guys around here that they don't know what their doing & have messed up more cars that ended up needing new engines.
They probably didn't know what the heck they were doing. Perhaps tweaked the timing too high or the air/fuel mixture too lean. Of course the basic Revo tune
is pretty much a standard program that should be safe as long as it is uploaded properly. So far this is my 2nd TT on Revo and I have many other friend here in
our local club that have been Revo tuned and have never had any issues whatsoever. There are many with APR tunes that are also very happy with their tunes.
There is only 2 guys with GIAC tunes and one of them had some issues and the other was also satisfied with his programming.
Most of these programs/chips pretty much follow the same guidelines and as long as they are applied/programmed properly they should perform fairly equally.
A real tuner of course who can put the car on a dyno and make adjustments and tweaks at that time would be best but they are really hard to find.
I had the manager of TD performance in Cincinnati fine tune my car according to the mods I have and it is running a lot better than with just the standard Revo tune.
Still not a dynotune but this guy has been around Audi and Porsches all his life and is promoting the Revo over the other options. That is pretty much the biggest reason
that I chose Revo over APR, GIAC or other more generic chips. I didn't want to send the ECU out and TD performance was the closest shop in driving distance.
I am very happy with the REVO tune and put on over 90k miles on my previous TT before I sold it and this 04 TT I had since last September and the first thing I did is
have it Revo Tuned and it has performed flawlessly. In the end it is your choice and I would recommend the closest reputable shop that you have near you so you can go back there in case there is an issue or for future updates. Also don't necessarily blame the tune for other shortcomings the car may have. The tune regardless by whom will take the engine and components to much higher limits than stock so if your hoses aren't holding boost or your DV is leaking than it's not really the tune's fault.
There are a lot of variables in our TT's that have to be kept in check in order to have it perform the way it should.

Woah, Woah. Wasn't bashing Revo. In fact I had a Revo tune on my A4 before I sold it. The Tuner I was talking about is not even 5 miles away from my house. Hence why I went to him. I had a problem with the owners & the phone lady or whatever the hell you call her usless job there. My problem with them is that they messed up my car along with a few of my friends cars due to them hiring almost anyone off the street that don't even know how to drive them let alone fix them. I rather not say their name since I'm helping someone sue them for putting a improper vehicle back on to the road, but if I met you in person I'd tell you F--k *blank* Motorsports.

Okay, Sorry, I must have misunderstood. There are some shady businesses around that's for sure. I made a mistake once and went to a place
that I wasn't familar with just because the quotted me a bit lower price for the work I needed done and when I got there for my appointment
nobody was there, the place wasn't even properly marked. I looked inside the place and there were all sorts of VWdubbs taken apart and about and inch
apart from each other without being any room to put another car in there. I waited around another 45 minutes and then just left called them up later
and they gave me some sort of excuse that they forgot the exact time of the appointment and they got stock in traffic, etc.. they wanted to reschedule and
I told them NO Thank you and took it to my favorite place TD Performance in Cincinnati. About a 2 hour drive for me but they have a very nice operation and
do excellent work. It's not the cheapest place but I do trust them since they have Porsche and Audi Certified Mechanics on staff and their shop is one of the
nicest ones I have ever seen. I do most maintanance stuff myself but if it comes to installing Downpipes and Timingbelts. I rather have someone else do it.
