Maybe I'm thinking a little too simply here but I know when mine started to do the same thing, it was because 100,000 miles of gas had been filtered through the same factory fuel filter (dealership never changed it) so, upon changing that it came right back to health. Usually fuel problems don't throw any sort of CEL, as far as I know...but then again, I am still a noob to the TT family and am trying to stay in my lane.

I will try that sea foam trick tonight, sounds like fun.

also, the problem is there when the car isn't moving. I can sit in the driveway and get the problem. Doesn't matter if clutch is in or out, or if I am in gear or not. moving or stand still, no diffference.

love it

also, the VW dealer won't put the VAG-COM tool on it. And I am afraid if I buy one I'll screw something up major.

Is there some sort of valve or sensor that would allow an "internal" vacume leak?

All these things are just speculation and impossible to say what it is for sure with out directly looking at your car. If you can get Vagcom that would be ideal, if not take it to someone who has one. I am all about doing my own work to my car and utilizing forums for answers but not to be rude but it sounds like you really have no clue so you should either take it some where that is VW/Audi certified or get the correct tools.

I do agree with Turbo. Vagcom really is not that much money but it is an amazing tool and will SAVE you so much money in the long run. Plus, once you learn it, you can work on others cars with it too!

You are right, I am out of answers. I'll get the VAG-com and take time to get educated on it. Or move to a town with a mechanic that will work on the car. I like wrenching and all, but there is a time when a pro needs to step in!

PS

I was going to just replace the o2 sensors until I saw what they cost! That is the point I decided to quite just throwing money at it.

The TT has started to suck money from wallet when I just walk past it now.

I did drive it to work today and will try and beg the VW dealer to look at it. They seem pretty busy fixing their own problem car

I have a honda element and that dealership service is never busy.

hmm, just a thought but i believe you said you had your engine mounts replaced, did you put OEM ones back in? because i think there is a little bit of rough"ness" with the VF engineering ones, i could be mistaken though
