Default Roaring noise

Finally back into the Audi crowd with an 03 TT Coupe Quattro. The problem is that I have a roaring noise coming from the rear and it is most noticeable at about 70 mph. One forum I have visited had an owner that had wheel bearing trouble but I do not get the other bearing indicators. Other wise the car is perfect.

The dealer swears it is tire noise. When I have the trunk full I do not hear it.

Any help out there?

I had the same problem and 2 mechanics said it was the tranny going, i brought the car to an actual transmision shop and they said it was the tires! So i changed the tires and the sound went away, previous owner had winter tires on the car that made a howling sound on dry roads.

Since it's only high speeds, its likely the tires. Otherwise, I would look into the helidex (awd) coupler. When my helidex went out, the noise was louder then the radio.

Same thing with my S4. Tires were cupping and needed to be replaced. Are you rotating every 6,000 miles? You need to.
