Is it just me or does the 1.8T idle like a diesel. My 225 had a ticking sound at idle but not when revved, which would be the case for a damaged valvetrain component, so I took it to the nearby VW dealer and they told me it was normal. Is it really? It's made this sound most of the time since I've bought it.

 

It's the fuel injectors. They are very noisy at idle.

 

Thanks. I knew it had to be normal b/c my buddies Passat 1.8T makes the same sound. Just not as loud but then again the extra noise only came after I put the exhaust on
