Default This should be fun!

Hello everyone! I have a completely (other than the unsual upkeep) stock 01 TT 1.8 Quatro. I'll have to admit that I know nothing about upgrades and mods so I hope you don't mind the occational question about what you are adding to yours to get the most out of it. Where would be good place to start looking for more horse power without a lot out of pocket. I have been planning some suspension work (I'm more of a corner guy than a straingt liner) but there's nothing wrong with a little more kick. Any suggestions? What is this BOV that I read about in the other thread? I know how it works but should other mods be made before doing something like that? If I install a BOV do I have to chip the car or add the Diode upgrade? Thanks for you help or advise.

Alright, we have 2 viewpoints on the forum here, as you've probably noticed, as to how to go about getting more power out of the car.
I'll stick with the traditional route of buying a chip, most likely APR again, for $500 (or wait until an event they're sponsoring, and get the buy one get one free program deal). Chips good for about 30hp. Cincy will tell you to do the diode mod, he's posted up some info on that, and Im sure if you PM him, he can tell you all about it.

If you chip, get a Diverter Valve, hell, even if you don't, a DV won't hurt. If you diode mod, (again, talk to Cincy) you can work a BOV into the car.

Intake and exhaust free up some ponies too. Check out modshack.info for a pretty nice intake. It does 2 things for you, de-restricts the severe bends air makes thru the airbox, and insulates from the fairly high underhood temps.

Exhaust is your choice really, I dont know of any one that performs significantly better than another. Cat-back speaking....

Oh, and read the FAQ sticky if you haven't, theres plenty of info there.

Yeah if you live near an event, apr does specialslike free second programming. They also sometimes throw specials on vwvortex along with other chip tuners.

I do things differntly because i understand the car and what i can do. For anyone not sure, a chip, dv, and exhaust is the best three things to spend your money on. Also a boost gauge is a very important tool for any turbo engine.

Thanks for the info. Does this forum have a sponsor that we should use for parts?
