Question Should I get a short ram intake?

Is there one that stands out above the others? Is there any to stay away from? I will be at the spot tomorrow and I know I will be like go head throw whatever on...

Intakes only make noise. If you want more noise, drill some holes in the bottom of the air box.

Yup. Waste of money. If you do purchase one, get one without an oiled filter. The oil is not good for the maf sensor.

Ran a dry foam filter right off the maf housing, with a samco turbo inlet hose/pipe.
It was throaty, and it could breathe.

I've heard arguments that all you're doing is pulling in hot air, but I ran a thermocouple and read temps an inch in front of the filter, and moving more than 10mph, temps ran about 10°F over ambient. Should mention that I had also removed the weatherstrip from the top of the firewall, cowl induction style...

replace your airbox with a cheap spectre filter and then zip-tie a sock at the end of your DV airbox connector, same performance and sound, but saved you 1 or 2 hundred.

Tube sock or dress sock? lol. Thats a little tacky for me, I am still doing my research and for the record I am not into noise. I just want to increase performance and follow a simple yet logical upgrade path.

I read a long thread that said the stock air box was good enough and that a high flow filter was the way to go. Then you have the people that say don't get a filter with oil as it will mess your turbo up. What filter should I get?

I have been looking for a good oil-less filter but have not really found one yet. Don't forget about the people who are on the other side of the fence. People who say they have never had a problem with a K&N filter and those who would never go without some form of intake. Who to trust/believe?

The oil films on the Maf element. This only really happens with an over oiled filter done by the end user. AEM makes the oiless filter. Stock air box breathes well enough for a stock turbo. A filter that is cleanable will just save you money over years of use.

Please read the FAQ, it covers basic power gains

I put a k&n in and had to clean the MAF after a month. Its been good since. I didn't add any oil, just the way it came out of the box. Not really a big deal, but I would go oil-less next time.
