Default Skid Plate Falling Off

So they were doing some construction at work that caused some dust to go on some cars (not mine). I took the opportunity to skip out for a bit and wash my car. On my way back the front part of my skid plate dropped down. The good part is thatI didn't loose it completely. It is being held on by one fastener/screw - whatever it is. I didnt get down and roll around in my work clothes but I will have to do so in 45 minutes. I will have to locate some tools to try to remove it. Anyone know what keepsitattached soI can find the appropriate tool to remove it?

i believe all you need is a flat head screwdriver... mines came off as well... i went to get an oil change... looked like the guy was using a flat head screw driver to unscrew it... but he didnt put back on correctly so it came off... but i dont mind because i can hear my turbo better now... i think the proper name for it is "sound deadner".

i never had mine but the one on the passat uses a flat head and has one 10mm bolt up front. Should use the same hardware.

mine is held on with torx screws.

there are 9 or 10 in all.

there are a few quick release plastic adapters in the wheel wells also. they are the quarter turn screws.

This became a disaster. It was held in by two screws with 3mm centers. One was stripped. When I got it off the inside had a nice coat of fresh oil. LookslikeI have a couple seals that need to be replaced.

eh, not quite a disaster because at least you figured out this problem before it became an even bigger headache... sorry to hear that though
