Hey guys,

The person who hit my car left a note on my apartment door today saying how she is sorry and going to take all financial responsibility.

She also gave all her insurance information and car information.

Should I even ask her if she wants to settle this in private?

 

^^^ Hells yeah. I would work out a deal where she pays double or extra to not go to jail. She pays cash. You then don't say anything to the police and she doesen't go to jail. I think most people would pay $7k to not have a felony on their reccord.

Otherwise play it safe and just work with her insurance.

 

With money in African can nourish many people.

 

Like I said in my OP, I called the police immediately, and she was arrested when we found her.

So, I don't think I can not go to the police anymore cause it's all been done.

 

Call her insurance...


However, if you prefer,

If you have State Farm, call them back, give them all the insurance infornation and you can actually work through them w/o paying your deductable, and you dont need to go through the hassle of taking the BS her insurance will prolly give you. I have done this several times... give it a try.

But if the damage is less then $1k it's not a felony. Just say it cost $800 to fix.

It'll prolly depend on your policy, like if you have 'underinsured' coverage, but every time I have been hit, I got their information, gave it to State Farm, and SF took care of fixing my car. No deductible since it was actually being paid through their insurance. Call them up and tell them you'd like them to handle it... Worth a shot.
