Default Spark Plugs?

Hey everybody. Lately I have noticed that after crusing around in my 01 TT roadster that when I come to a stop at a light or sign I will be sitting there a minute, and then the engine kind of stumbles for a minute. For example, the idle rpm is roughly 700 rpm, well it will drop down to 400 - 500 really quick and feel like a misfire. I can literally feel it a little through the car. I have 39k miles on it. Also, the CEL come on the other day.

Pulled the code at Advance and it was an o2 sensor , bank 1 error. I think it may be running rich or lean, and misfiring... which leads me to beleive spark plugs must be to blame.

I have heard that spark plugs are normally replaced on the TT at 35k miles. Is this true?

I have ordered some Brisk Silver Racing spark plugs, and they are on their way. Costs me $50, but as long as it gives me good response.

My two questions:
1) What is this problem I am describing?

2) What kind of plugs do you run on your TT, and how do you like them compaired to stock. Any differences?

Thanks in advance!

i run the Densos Ik 22 i cant really notice a difference over the stock plugs but then again when i chipped i put in the new plugs. dont really know how the stock plugs work with a chip....i use vag-com to see the spark plug voltage for each cylinder and they seem to be working great...all pretty close in voltage and all in the Green(good)...i think i'll stick with the densos change every 25-30k any sooner would be a waste IMO

it might be wise to get a vag-com fully activated to see the spark plug voltage then your question would be answerd

Shoot, i get NGK BRK7's, less than $12 and good for 15k if not longer. Spending more seems like a waste to me. These plugs have provin themselves over and over again.

We will see how they work. Here is a picture of them. I read a review about somebody putting them in a TT and they noticed a genuine difference in response and power. Well see I guess....

Anybody know if this is probably the cause of my CEL?

NGK BKR7E's for me too! your stock plug is a BKR6E and with a chip the 7E's are the plugs to get. Cheap as hell too!

A few other things I would check on your car, if it is still having a rough/bouncy idle. I just had mine serviced since Cylinder #3 is misfiring and had a choppy idle. Went to NAPA and got a Refurb Bosch Mass Air Flow Sensor for $94, ordered the Revision "e" Coil Packs for my car as well, and new plugs. Car runs Phenominal now. I didnt know their were problems with certain packs, I knew the MAF was shot though. Roughly $220 all said and done.

I only want to post a Info... Audi has placed WRONG plugs in some TT“s when they were delivered. They bulidt in one from Bosh that is not certifiey from Bosch for the 1.8T Engine!!! It was one for 1.8l engine but not for turbo! In the 180 HP TT Engine for example the right one is NGK PFR6Q. And this you can drive 60tkm!
