Spool Times
ok so, what will be the main diff in full boost spool times between these 2 combinations
T4 compressor / T3 exhaust and a T3 Compressor/ T4 exhaust
both are 60 trim andboth havestg 3 T3 wheels.
any experience with these trubs any1?

you cant get a T3 compressor with a T4 turbine. A T4 turbine isnt needed until you start pushing well over 700-800whp, but even then you can still get away with a .82 T3 housing and make more than that. As for spool, it would be worse that a T3 .82 housing which is already huge and depending on the size of the turbo, probably still laggier than a T3 1.02 housing.
so ill be looking at a lot of lag time, i just want to hold 20+ lbs of boost at redline for the straightaways that i will see when doing laps on the circuit. i dont want to downshift to really high rpms when comign out of the turns in order to get power from the turbo.
then you really should be looking at a gt2871r with either a .64 or .63 housing. This will spool ~3.5k (starts boosting pre 3k) and hold boost all the way till 7-7.5k easy. Not to mention make low 330awhp without working to hard.
yea but now we are talking $$$ for the turbo. im gonna see how that t3/t4 pans out if i win that deal. worst case scenario i may rebuild it and sell it. not sure yet, but if i get it at the price listed, its gonna be one hell of a deal.
having said that ... can you post the site link again for T3S60 again ... im going through posts right now but i cant find that darn link.

I wouldn't go for taking a chance on a busted turbo personally. The way I look at it, since you're going to be shelling out thousands on your project you might as well shell out a little more to get quality parts. In the end it's not going to make that much of a difference in how long it takes you to accumulate the money for it but it'll save you the headaches of your crap breaking.
yea i know but 50$ for a turbo on a no rerve bid.. cant go wrong. im gonna rebuild it, when its done... im gonna see if i want to buy a t3s60 or a gt28RS.... or stick with my turbonetics t3/t4, i like the idea of 25+ psi at redline but then again 20+ psi at redline with 18+psi @ 3k is also very entising....
my buddy has a t3/t4 on his awp 1.8T which he bought off a guy but it idles like a piece of turd cuz of the standalone. we actually got it running finally... let me tell you that turbo is BIGGGGGG, took it out for a test drive and blew a head gasket LMAO!!!!! so im doing a tbelt and hgasket 1st thing b4 BT. just a warning to you guys. HG takes a pounding over time suggest you change the HG when you go BT.
talked to arny @ pags, he is really against turbonetics .. he wont get into it , but hints at frequent turbo failure.
either way i cant lose, turbo with shipping and rebuild will cost me around 200$ max. already set to buy rebuild parts. so could be a good way to make some $$ ....
PS im f%^&% smashed.. damn company bowling .. they got me all drunk!!!!! 1200 $ bill no food .. thats tough...

You need to take into accout with a stock head you can only safely rev to about 7500rpms constantly w/o worry of damage. If you want to maximize the rpm band, you should want a turbo thats starting to fall on its face at 7k and not still holding strong at 7.5k. This would have a turbo with better spool and a much longer powerband. Not saying it will meet your power goals, but just throwing that out there.

the headgasket was due to his bad tune and not the strength of the gasket. People again have not seen the limit of the stock headgasket, crank, head bolts, and a few other things.

Just look them up, they cost more and are less reliable. I have seen people on vortex have them blow seals withen 500-1000miles.

im not sure what was up with the head gasket there, but its gone thats for sure ... took the heads off the other day and nice amount of coolant mixed in there.
the tune was done by the previous owner, we going back to him to see what we can squeeze (baseball bat negotiations) outa him.
i hear what your saying, the hg and crank headbolts etc that you mentioned were overengineered for their purpose. but, at the same time... if im already down there .. might as well do the HG, maybe even lower the compression a tad bit with a thicker gasket.
