Default Sputtering....Help

Car started sputtering as if it is running on 3 cylinders, or like something electrical got wet. Way, way down on power. CEL came on then went off. Does it throughout the entire rpm range. Ideas?

That was my first thought too. Is there a way to determine which coil is bad without code? I disconnected each one at a time, started the car which told me nothing. No noticeable difference between cylinders. Equally crappy with each individual connector off.

A little research never hurt. Here's my problem, I think.
